Who can apply for a WiFi4EU voucher?

The EU incentive program is geared toward municipalities currently without any free Wi-Fi connectivity or where the Wi-Fi offering is incomplete. Take advantage of WiFi4EU and LANCOM as an inexpensive and simple path leading to state-of-the-art digital infrastructure. Make your location more attractive for your citizens, business visitors and tourists.

Up to 8,000 local communities in Europe are to be supported by WiFi4EU. A specific budget is reserved for each Member State. All local public authorities may participate – be it a municipality or group of municipalities – with the proviso that public Wi-Fi does not already exist in the planned hotspot areas.

The voucher for € 15,000 is intended to cover the costs of procuring the necessary hardware and of installation. Participating municipalities must commit to pay only for the hotspot operating costs for at least three years.

How do I apply for a WFi4EU voucher?

Vouchers will be allocated in several calls up to the end of 2020. The first call was launched on May 15, 2018. It’s best to apply right now – to increase your chances of receiving funding. Registration is quick and non-bureaucratic: simply complete a short form online on the www.wifi4eu.eu website. Please note: to register, your municipality will need an EU login account.

First-come, first-surf

Each participating municipality can be allocated one voucher only. And the name of the game is: first-come, first-surf. Because the participating municipalities will be considered according to the date and time of application – not of registration. Right until the vouchers available in the respective call have been distributed. If your municipality comes away empty-handed at first, you can apply again in one of the subsequent calls – the earlier, the better.

And now it’s up to you!
